It was mainly due to the hard work of Miss Glad Bailey, Mr. Tom O'Neil and Mr. Ray Boldery, the Executive Committee of the Oxley Progress Association in 1961, that a swimming pool was built at Dunlop Park. The land for the park and site for the pool was donated by the Dunlop Family. Before the Brisbane City Council would start construction of the pool the local community had to raise £10,000. 0. 0. The Dunlop Park Swimming Pool was officially opened on Friday 22nd December, 1961 by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Alderman Clem Jones. With the opening of a new swimming pool at Dunlop Park, Corinda many people has expressed a wish to form a swimming club. With the growing interest a public meeting was called with the object of forming a Club. The meeting was held at 8p.m. on Wednesday, 17th January, 1962 at the Corinda Shire Hall. Advantages attached to having a Club in the area were many
