Giles County tourism has received a $20,000 grant to promote creative content portraying the county as “Virginia’s Mountain Playground,†according to the county government.
The funding from the Virginia Tourism Corp.’s Destination Marketing Organization Grant Program “will allow Giles to host content creators and influencers and leverage their experiences and generated content to increase Giles’ visibility as a destination, improve occupancy at local lodging, and activate more of the audience on social platforms,†a news release from the county said.
“We will invite and work with content creators and influencers who align with our targeted audiences. Using place-based and partner visitor data we feel confident in engaging in this new marketing strategy to further establish Giles County as a premier outdoor adventure destination,†said Cora Gnegy, county tourism director.
Mountain Lake Lodge also received a Marketing Leverage Program award to support the marketing of their Savor: Chefs & Farmers event.
