John Abraham Saul, III, known affectionately as Johnny, passed away on July 2, 2025 due to complications from a long-term illness. He was born on October 22, 1953, in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø to John A. Saul, Jr. and Geraldine Flora Saul.
John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy Hawks; sisters, Sheryl Carr and Rosetta Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reva and Foy Hawks; brothers-in-law, Lyndon Carr and Malcolm Kevin Anderson; and nephew, Kevin James Anderson.
A lifelong resident of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø, John graduated from Cave Spring High School in 1972. He pursued further education at Virginia Western Community College, where he studied mechanical engineering technology. Over the years, he developed a deep knowledge of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
John found joy in music and was skilled at playing both the upright bass and acoustic guitar. His hands were equally at home with woodworking tools as they were strumming strings. He cherished time spent outdoors and shared a special bond with his dog Chloe.
A memorial service will be held on August 16, 11:00-1:00 at the Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, 2363 Brick Church Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Seating will begin at 10:30 accompanied by a visual tribute to John's life.
