Deborah Jo Hite of Bassett, VA, age 74, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, VA. She was the daughter of the late Joseph K. Hite and Doris R. Hite of Bassett, VA. She was also the sister of the late John V. Hite, of Denison, TX. She is survived by her brother, Richard R. Hite, of Lakewood Ranch, FL.
Deborah was a graduate of John D Bassett High School and of Averett College in Danville, VA. She was a Henry County elementary school teacher and worked as a design assistant with her mother at Doris Hite Interiors in Collinsville. Deborah also actively supported the Martinville-Henry County SPCA. She was a volunteer and active leader in the Henry County-Martinsville Republican Party and served on the Southside Republican Women's Club.
Deborah was a member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Bassett.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on September 26 at Roselawn Cemetery in Martinsville, VA. Reverend Susan Spangenberg of the Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church and Reverend Doug Ramsey of the First Baptist Church of Bassett will perform her eulogy.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA or the Alzheimer's Association.
