LOS ANGELES — Savannah Pola hit a walk-off, RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give top-seeded UCLA a 7-6 win over second-seeded Virginia Tech in an NCAA Division I softball regional.
UCLA (39-10), the No. 6 overall seed in the NCAA field, advanced to Sunday’s finals in the four-team, double-elimination regional.
Tech (40-13-1) dropped into the losers’ bracket final, which was set for Saturday night.
Teagan Thrunk hit an RBI single to give Tech a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh. Addy Greene scored on the hit, with Cameron Fagan thrown out at home. Fagan was initially ruled safe because of catcher’s obstruction, but the call was overruled on a video review.
Jordan Woolery hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score.
Tech’s Cori McMillan smacked a three-run homer in the first inning. Greene hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0 in the second.

UCLA later grabbed a 5-4 lead, but Greene homered in the fifth to tie the game.
SOFTBALL
Tennessee 12, UVa 0
Payton Gottshall threw a three-hitter Saturday to lead the top-seeded Volunteers (42-10) past the second-seeded Cavaliers (33-19) in a five-inning game in an NCAA Division I regional in Knoxville, Tenn.
Tennessee, the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA field, advanced to Sunday’s finals in the four-team, double-elimination regional.
UVa dropped into the losers’ bracket final, which was set for Saturday night.
Liberty 7, Georgia 3
Brynn McManus hit a three-RBI double to help the third-seeded Flames (38-23) knock off the top-seeded Bulldogs on Saturday in an NCAA Division I regional in Athens, Ga.
Liberty, which improved to 2-0 in the regional, advanced to Sunday’s finals.
Georgia (41-17), the No. 11 overall seed in the NCAA field, beat Charlotte in the losers’ bracket final later Saturday to earn the other spot in the finals.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø eliminated
Third-seeded Muskingum (31-14) beat second-seeded Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø (33-16) on Saturday to win an NCAA Division III regional in Bethlehem, Penn.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø defeated Muskingum 3-1 in Game 1 of the finals Saturday to force a decisive Game 2. Lilly Burns belted a three-run homer to give Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø a 3-1 lead in the fifth. Baylee Compton pitched 5 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the win. It was Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹Ù꿉۪s third straight victory when facing elimination in the regional.
But Muskingum beat Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø 4-1 in Game 2. Tareyn Born threw a two-hitter for Muskingum.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø finished 3-2 in the four-team, double-elimination regional.
MEN’S LACROSSE
W&L 16, Salisbury 15, OT
Hillis Burns scored in overtime to give 16th-ranked Washington and Lee (16-5) an NCAA quarterfinal win over top-ranked Salisbury (21-1) on Saturday in Salisbury, Md.
It was Burns’ fourth goal of the game.
W&L will meet Tufts or St. John Fisher in a semifinal Saturday at Salisbury for a berth in the May 26 title game in Philadelphia.
Salisbury’s Jack Dowd scored with 34 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 15.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
W&L 12, CNU 10
Hanna Bishop scored four goals to lead the seventh-ranked Generals (18-3) past 21st-ranked Christopher Newport (14-7) in the round of 16 in the NCAA Division III tournament Saturday in Salisbury, Md.
W&L will play host Salisbury on Sunday for a berth in the May 24 semifinals in Salem.
Franklin & Marshall 14, Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø 11
The third-ranked and host Diplomats (18-3) scored the final three goals of the game to beat the 12th-ranked Maroons (17-5) in the round of 16 of the NCAA Division III tournament Saturday in Lancaster, Penn.
The Diplomats outscored Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø 3-0 in the fourth quarter.
Tiernan Connor had four goals for Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø.
BASEBALL
Radford splits doubleheader
The host Highlanders (16-34, 7-16 Big South) split a doubleheader with Longwood on Friday, winning the first game 6-4 but losing the nightcap 12-11 in 11 innings.
Carson Bell had three hits and two RBIs in Game 1.
